Contraction, in grammar, is a way of reducing and merging two words. Technicaly, words are squeezed together to make a shorter version of the original words without changing the meaning. Apostrophes are placed in between the removed letters.

Using the lengthened version makes a statement appear more classy and formal. In the other hand, using the shortened version makes a statement more friendly and comfortable.
